2020 Fee Schedule

Hourly Rates

These rates are charged for all legal services not included within a Flat Fee Package or Package Upgrade. Fees at hourly rates may be calculated on the basis of six minute intervals.

Initial Consultation

No charge.

Up to 30 minutes of Legal Time are provided at no charge to new and existing clients in order to introduce our firm and determine the scope of the representation.

Legal Time

$300 per hour.

Legal Time includes all time spent by an attorney on a client's behalf.

Paralegal Time

$100 per hour.

Paralegal time includes all time spent on a client's behalf that is normally handled by a legal assistant.


Flat Fee Packages

These estate planning packages each include Document Preparation, up to two hours of initial consultation for questions and information gathering and up to two hours for document execution, notarization, and beneficiary designation assistance. Consultation and document notarization are currently being done by remote video conference due to the Covid19 emergency. These packages may not be appropriate if exceptional circumstances are involved.

Basic Will Package for an Unmarried Person

$2,000

This package includes a Simple Will; a Durable Power of Attorney, a HIPAA release and an Appointment of Guardian and Conservator.

Basic Will Package for a Married Couple

$3,000

This package is suitable for a couple whose total assets, including retirement plan balances and home equity value, is less than $1,000,000.  The package includes two mirror image Simple Wills; two similar Durable Powers of Attorney; two Massachusetts Health Care Proxies; two HIPAA releases and an Appointment of Guardians and Conservators.

Estate and Lifetime Planning Documents for an Unmarried Person

$2,500

This package includes a Pour-Over Will; a Revocable Living Trust; a Durable Power of Attorney; a Massachusetts Health Care Proxy; a HIPAA release and an Appointment of Guardian and Conservator.

Estate and Lifetime Planning Documents for a Married Couple

$4,000

This package includes two Pour-Over Wills; two mirror image Revocable Living Trusts or one joint Revocable Living Trust each with marital trust ("QTIP") and family trust provisions for federal and Massachusetts estate tax planning; two similar Durable Powers of Attorney; two Massachusetts Health Care Proxies; two HIPAA releases; and an Appointments of Guardians and Conservators.

Irrevocable Life Insurance Trust ("ILIT")

$2,500

For those clients who wish to incorporate life insurance as part of their estate plan.

Spousal Lifetime Access Trust ("SLAT")

$12,500

Irrevocable Trusts created as part of personalized estate planning for married entrepreneurs, corporate executives and other high net worth individuals wishing to make full use of the current, but temporary, high exemption levels from the federal estate tax.

Special Power of Appointment Trust ("SPAT")

$12,500

Irrevocable Trusts created as part of personalized estate planning for unmarried entrepreneurs, corporate executives and other high net worth individuals wishing to make full use of the current, but temporary, high exemption levels from the federal estate tax.


Package Upgrades

These special circumstances require additional time and documentation. These fees are in addition to the Flat Rate Package amounts listed above.

Qualified Domestic Trust ("QDOT") Provisions

$500

These provisions are needed when one or both spouses are not U.S. citizens.

Estate Tax Treaty Review

$1,000

For clients who are citizens or residents of, or have property in, Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, South Africa, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Dynasty Trust with Generation Skipping Transfer Tax ("GST") Provisions

$2,500

For those clients wishing to create a multi-generational endowment fund for present and future members of their family.

"See-Through" Trust

$2,500

Typically used as an I.R.A. beneficiary designation to provide trust protection to a surviving spouse, minor child, disabled or chronically ill person or an individual not more than 10 years younger than the original I.R.A. account holder.

Charitable Remainder Trust ("CRT")

$2,500

CRT's are useful for clients with substantial balances in their I.R.A. accounts who wish to establish a lifetime income stream for the beneficiary and a charitable giving fund for the next generation.  CRT's are also useful for clients who wish to sell highly appreciated assets without incurring a capital gains tax.

Islamic Estate Planning

$500

For those clients wishing to comply with Sharia.

Jewish Estate Planning

$500

For those clients wishing to comply with Halacha.

Catholic Estate Planning

$500

For those clients wishing to comply with Canon Law.

Pre-Emergency Planning for Adult Children and Elderly Parents

$500

For each college age or young adult child or elderly parent of a client who has purchased one of the Flat Fee Packages listed above, this Upgrade includes a Durable Power of Attorney, a Massachusetts Health Care Proxy, a HIPAA Release and an Appointment of Guardians and Conservators.

Consultation with Lawyers and Other Professionals

Time spent communicating with or responding to questions or requests from corporate counsel, family lawyers, out of state lawyers, foreign law firms, etc. will be charged at the Hourly Rate for Legal Time listed above.

Post Signing Assistance

Assistance with matters such as beneficiary designations, trust funding and retitling of assets will be charged at the Hourly Rate for Paralegal Time listed above to the extent that the time spent exceeds the time included within each package.
